Fort
Ticonderoga (518-585-2821)
Fort Ticonderoga, the "Gibraltar of the North,"
attracts over 100,000 visitors each year to the restored
stone fort and its museum. Built by the French in 1775,
Fort Ticonderoga (Carillon) played a critical role in
the American War for Independence. On these grounds
occurred the first American victory of the American
Revolution, won by Benedict Arnold, Ethan Allen and
the Green Mountain Boys. The Fort is open May 10-mid

Mount
Defiance (518-585-2821)
The road to the summit of Mount Defiance rewards visitors
with an observation deck and panoramic views of Lake
Champlain, Fort Ticonderoga, Mount Independence and
the Green Mountains of Vermont. Road to summit follows
historic road made by British General “Gentleman
Jonny” Burgoyne's army on 1777. Open daily 9am-4pm.

Mount
Defiance is owned and maintained by Fort Ticonderoga
and it is open daily from 9:00-5:00 from May 10-mid
October.

Ticonderoga pencils and Ticonderoga paper are featured
in the exhibits of the Ticonderoga Heritage Museum.
The paper and pencil industries shaped the nineteenth
and twentieth century history of this town. Located
near the waterfalls of the La Chute River on Montcalm
Street. Open May 31- Labor Day.

The
"Hancock House," is a reproduction of the
original stone Hancock House which stood in Boston,
Mass. The Ticonderoga Historical Society is housed here,
and displays books, maps, and memorabilia related to
the town and makes its genealogical library available
to take public.

at Moses Circle, Research library and museum, artists'
gallery. Open - July and August: daily 10am - 4pm.,
September - June: Wednesday - Saturday 10am - 4pm.

La Chute River Interpretive Trail,

A
guide to the natural and industrial history of the La
Chute River, with interpretive signage. Begin at the
iron railing, overlooking Bi-Centennial Park. The La
Chute River flows over the falls carrying water from
Lake George, from above and to Lake Champlain, a half
mile down stream. Follow the signage to La Chute Lane
and continue your journey through the history of the
area.

in Crown Point, NY, raises three species of trout -
rainbow, brown, and brook. In addition to our
two-year olds, our facility also raises roughly 20,000
yearling brook trout annually. Our hatchery is
open to the public and over a dozen rearing ponds, full
of trout, are situated on-site for your viewing pleasure.
Our well-manicured grounds offer a pleasant setting
for a family outing or picnic, and educational routs

of Historic Places. Visit the museum and learn how Penfield
helped usher in the Electric Age. The walking tour includes
